The Neighbourhood Travel Team provides free advice and information on travel and transport for the St Helens area.

Our Aims

v

Provide surgeries within Community Centres, Job Centres and workplaces

v

Provide a tailor made travel plan for specific journeys i.e. job interview, new job, college placements, hospital appointments, shopping trips etc

v

Provide support for new travel schemes or services

v

Provide advice and support to enable ease of access to transport for people with disabilities

Free Travel Passes/Funding

These can be issued to people who are unemployed or at risk of redundancy for the following journeys:-

v

Attending an interview

v

Beginning a new job (passes provided for first month of employment)

v

Attending a short recognised training course within the St Helens borough.

When attending an interview a travel pass will be issued unless public transport is not accessible for the journey.  If this is the case a return taxi journey may be funded.

In all cases the journey must be via the cheapest means available and proof of interview, new job or training course must be provided and forms and signatures completed before any passes or funding is issued.
